Reading / Literature

·         Sound out short and long vowel words using phonic skills

·         Connect sounds with printed words

·         Use reading strategies for word identification

·         Read basic 1st grade sight words correctly within context, including color words and numbers through ten

·         Self-correct when reading aloud

·         Read orally with expression

·         Draw or identify a picture that illustrates the meaning of a three sentence paragraph

Penmanship

MATHEMATICS

·         Identify, create, and predict repeating patterns

·         Rote count (to 110)

·         Skip count (by 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s)

·         Write numerals 1-110 in sequence

·         Write and identify any numeral 1-110

·         Identify coins and their value

·         Tell time to the hour and half hour

·         Count with pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars

·         Identify two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes

·         Understand position words such as above, below, behind, in front of

·         Apply calendar concepts in daily activities

·         Demonstrate understanding of place value using ones and tens

·         Read, interpret, and collect data for  simple picture or bar graphs
