·         Spell correctly a list of high frequency and frequently misspelled words appropriate for 2nd grade

·         Write a titled story with a beginning, middle, and end

·         Alphabetical order to the 2nd letter

·         Written expression:  capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, sentence types ( . ? ! )

·         Mechanics:  spelling and penmanship

·         Writing process:  brainstorm, pre-write, revise, edit, final copy

·        Types of writing:  journals, reports, creative writing, poetry, letters, paragraphs

 


Speaking / Listening

·         Speak in complete sentences

MATHEMATICS

 

·         Identifies 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers

·         Demonstrates understanding of patterning concepts

·         Demonstrates understanding of place value up to 1000

·         Addition and Subtraction (up to 3 digit numbers) using various methods

·         Introduction of multiplication and division

·         Time:  read and record time to the nearest 1/2 hour and 1/4 hour on a digital and analog clock

·         Money: know and work the value of coins and bills to $1.00

·         Develop and interpret graphs, tables and charts

·         Apply basic calculator functions

·         Master basic math facts of addition and subtraction through 9 in one minute
