About the Counselor |

Mr. Sumerix is a graduate of Alpena High School, earning degrees from Alpena Community College, Michigan State University and Central Michigan University. After teaching for 10 years as the Agri-science instructor and FFA Advisor at Hillman, he moved into the Counseling office in 1995. As a lifelong resident of Northeast Michigan, he has been active with youth programs through 4-H, his church, FFA and a wide variety of community service programs. |

Counseling Interns: Every year there are 2 students who work in the counseling office. Their responsibilities range from correspondence and scheduling paperwork to college representatives and technology coordination within the counseling office. Alexa & Kourtney are the team for 2007. Alexa who is a senior this year carries an average GPA of 3.8. Kourtney is a junior this year and also carries an average GPA of 3.8. In our office they really work hard to manage the huge volume of paperwork each year. They assist with things such as MEAP, EXPLORE, PLAN and other testing programs, scholarships, college applications, the organization of honors night, and much more!!! |
