Welcome back to Hillman Community Schools! Elementary Open House is on Wednesday, August 22nd from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the Elementary School. Six grade Orientation is on Thursday, August 23rd from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. at the Jr/Sr High School followed by Jr/Sr High Open House from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Hillman School Board Vacancies
Have you ever considered running for the Hillman Board of Education? There are three 4-year seats and three 2-year seats that are open. Persons interested in representing the community on the Hillman Board of Education are invited to apply. Please call the County Clerk’s office at 989-785-8022, or the District Office at 989-742-2908 for more information. Required forms are available at each location. Deadline to apply is July 23, 2018 at 4 p.m.
Fall Athletics will begin soon. This is a reminder that you must have a physical on file with the school in order to participate. The Lewiston Clinic offers physicals for 15 dollars and proceeds go back to the Hillman Athletic Department. Lewiston Clinic physical date is on July 25th from 3-6 p.m. (see flyer on Athletics page). Please see attached Golden Apple Nomination Info for the 2017-18 school year. The nominations will be accepted until August 1st. Winners will be announced during our opening day celebration on the first day back with all staff.
The Hillman Board of Education and Administration are launching a new initiative to guide the Hillman Schools through a 3-5 Year Strategic Planning Process. The purpose of this initiative is to help the district develop goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for the students, while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way.
Don't Let the Ballot Language Confuse You
Hillman Community Schools is asking voters to consider a sinking fund millage to help fund the renovation and repair of existing facilities. Additionally, a sinking fund would allow for upgrades to security and technology. The sinking fund would also allow the district to accomplish these projects without using general fund dollars to pay for the upgrades.
